The mustangs are very aware of their surroundings and where other horses are, even though I may not be able to see them. Many times when I could only find a few horses, I would watch the horses closest to me. They will often turn and face the direction where there are other herds in the distance hidden by a hill or invisible in the bottom of a valley....sometimes up to two miles away.
