There are too many places on NCC land where one comes across a fence that bars access to public land that has been leased to private interests. In some cases land that once was the site of public trails has been fenced off and closed to the public. This was the case when the NCC sold The Log Farm; the trails were fenced off and the connections with the nearby trail networks were allowed to be reclaimed by nature. Some people protest these fences by cutting holes in them. The fence shown in this photo had a hole in it just to the left of the frame. I know of another place, one only a kilometer or so from where I took this photo, where a trail was closed to the public and fenced off with an 8 foot tall chain-link fence. One day when I passed the fence I was surprised to see that someone had not only cut hole in the fence but also brought power tools with them to cut through the posts holding the fence up!
