Cartes du Ciel is a popular star charting/planetarium software program. It was developed by an amateur astronomer/programmer in Europe and is distributed for free. I use it to help control the mount and point the telescope at the objects I want to image. Cartes du Ciel can import a variety of star and deepsky object databases, which help me identify my targets. It works in conjunction with EQMOD, which directly controls the mount.
