A predominantly crepuscular and nocturnal species which favours well-vegetated saline flats and mangroves.
This image was taken handheld from a less-than stable canoe on the Mandina bolong!

You did really well! These are such odd looking birds with those huge eyes. I love the setting in the mangroves.

Looks a lot like the Costa Rican model. You had enough shutter speed to take care of all the handicaps. Excellent capture. V
