November was a much awaited month every year. First it's All Saint Day (Undras), then it's my Bday, then it's the fiesta. Of course after the fiesta were Christmas and New Year. It's a merry time of the year when I and my best friend would start making plans as to where we would get to get the necessary bamboo for our kerosene-powered bamboo cannons. The loudest, scary-backfiring-burn-your-eyebrows bamboo cannons that could hurl a tin can far were always made with pride and perfection - but this story deserves a separate section for next time.

Like clockwork, November would start off with marching band sounds and fireworks (kwitis). You could feel the celebration in the air with eager anticipation of the merriment that was coming. It's time to go to the market and buy the latest tela for new pants to be shown off to friends.
