After filling up on cattle feed, the Buntings all took off to a patch of weeds, presumably for some dessert. In the above image, only a fraction of the flock is captured.
Reportedly these little birds can survive temperatures as low as fifty degrees Celsius below zero. Their summers are spent far up north, both in Canada and in Alaska, often on rocky Arctic shores, dry tundra, cliffs and talus slopes.
