Edirne december 2009 6250.jpg

From TrakyaGezi's site I quote (Google-translated): "At the Beylerbeyi (Governor’s) mosque, from 1429.
Unfortunately, the construction year of the Beylerbeyi Süleyman Pasha Mosque is unknown. However, considering its endowment, which was arranged in 1433, it can be assumed that it was opened for worship a few years before this date. According to this foundation records; Various income and lands around Edirne, Kırklareli and İpsala were dedicated to this mosque.

The mosque is located on Kirişhane Street in Talat Paşa Neighborhood and on the banks of the Tunca river in terms of location. This site is also known as Bostanpazarı among the people. The mosque, built by the Beylerbeyi Hadim Süleyman Pasha, is known as the "Süleymaniye Mosque" among the public .

The mosque has a square plan and is covered with a main dome and three small domes. Unfortunately, its minaret, built adjacent to the eastern end of the north facade, has collapsed. The cover on the last congregation place of the mosque is not in place today. However, the 4 column capitals standing, show that there is a narthex with 3 sections. There are two crown gates. One of them is located in the middle of the north facade, while the other is located near the north end of the east wall.

In some parts of the mosque, such as the dome, dome skirts, inner surface walls, and pediments of the mihrab, there are hand-drawn and floral motifs. Medallions with verse inscriptions, "Allah, Muhammad, Hasan, Hussein" and the names of the four caliphs on the wall surfaces create a strong atmosphere in the interior."
