Vaulting the Flames

Contains the tumbler on the beach, which has undergone considerable reworking to shift her toward the right, and the upper part of the light fixture, also considerably altered, to make the fire pan. The flame is from a photo of my own--the burn off of an unwanted natural gas deposit above the Marcellus Shale layer the drillers are heading for. I converted the composite to monochrome using Channel Mixer and then added a diagonal orange-blue gradient to get the lighting effect I wanted.

Good questions, Fay. I forgot about the shadow. I was thinking nighttime, perhaps with a bit of sunset afterglow in the sky, or maybe the lights of a city bouncing off the clouds. Hmm. Looks like this may need a bit of work. --Melody

I like the idea, but am a bit confused about the lighting ... the beach look bright along with her shadows and the background looks pretty dark .... what time of day might this be? ~ Fay

A really interesting coloration--quite appropriate for the subject. Not sire about the fire bowl, maybe it should have softer edges...
I do like the way you are experimenting and daring new things--the best way to grow your skills.
