The Fine Print

The elderly gent ahead of me on line could not see very clearly, but he wanted the 99 cent deal on two egg and cheese sandwiches for him and his wife. When it was time to pay he was told that the total was $5.74.

"Five Seventy-Four!" The old fellow was livid. "How can two 99 cent sandwiches total almost six dollars?"

The clerk calmly pointed to the small print on the sign that read, "..when you buy any beverage".

"Okay then," said the weary senior. "Give me two small coffees to go with that." The clerk complied and announced "That will be $5.74".

"What is going on? Is this a joke?"

"I'm not joking", said the clerk. "The drinks are $1.69 each plus tax."

The unhappy old fellow walked out... I stepped up, took this picture with my cellphone, and walked out behind him.

This is bad, but have you ever tried to read the small print on a tv ad. I don't know how its even legal.

Passive resistance is usually best.

Good for him for not giving in to the deceitful advertising. There's always a catch...
