The Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston

Thanks to a huge legacy made to the people of Preston by a local philanthropist, Edmund Robert Harris late in the 19th Century the town has this fine building (and a number of others). For more information see Wikipedia.

He probably worked his men and women damned hard, but at least we have this to show for it.

What a lovely building! You have made it look older through sepia tones. :)

Well, its been a while since I was in Preston.. The NW of England is an exciting place for historical buildings and wildlife too.. I used to enjoy driving over there from York.. many moons ago... For a shot taken from the car park, this is just fine...

LOL - they do seem a little short on headroom. Super architectural shot :o)

Agree with Stewart, the figures all squashed into the tympanum are a bit of fun! I approve of the inscription the base of the pediment too - "To Literature, Arts And Sciences" ...sensible words!
