Self Portrait Friday

Hello everyone, I am back to give it a go at another PAD. With Pbase working they way I remember it and it being the five year anniversary of my fist PAD, 2005 (I actually finished that one.) I feel like giving it another shot. Wish me luck!

This year my goal is to do a MAD (Monotone A Day).

So today's image is a enviromental self portrait, with Abby included. Taken on Hyatt Lane in the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Since we have been dating we do a New Years Day drive.

It was cold and windy and just starting to blow snow, as you can see from the clouds in the background a storm was moving in fast. Temps around 31, mid 20's with wind chill.

Here is a link to the first shot of my 2005 PAD.

Now that's my kind of place! No pavement, old wooden fence posts, lots of trees and some hills beckoning to me. The weather would just add to the adventure!

What a nice tradition for your New Year's dating commemoration. Sparks Lane is such an appropriate spot to keep the 'sparks flying.' :D I'll never forget that day that Buz & I met you. That was a nice surprise.
Best to you,
Dick:)

Thanks for your comment, James. I'll look forward to watching your MAD; what a great idea! Best of luck; it can get to be a grind as you know. You cetainly started out 2010 with an exceptional image. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks Coleen. Yes they have both produced some fantastic images from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I even had the honor of meeting Buz and Richard there one early morning. A funny story. I knew their faces from Pbase, and introduced myself and we spent the morning shooting. Great guys. Funny how the internet has allowed us to meet strangers and start off already knowing their names. Cause I was like "Hey Buz, hey Richard, I'm James from Pbase, nice to meet ya."

Very nice. I have seen a lot of pictures through the years of this same road from Buz Keifer and Gayle Clement.
