Happy New Year - 2010

I was first introduced to the concept of Fried Chicken and Waffles in the 1960's at Well's Supper Club in Harlem, New York.

After a night of partying... it was generally too late for dinner but too early for breakfast. Well's Supper Club, on 135th Street, had the solution. They combined dinner and breakfast by offering a plate of Fried Chicken and Waffles.

In the 1990's Jill had her first plate of fried chicken and waffles at Gladys Knight's restaurant in Atlanta.
She didn't grow up around much fried chicken... but she learned how to make it tonight for new year's eve and it was DELICIOUS!

Never would have put the two together, but heck, why not? Looks pretty good to me! Fix me up a plate! Happy New Year, Dave!

@ Jen... we used maple syrup. I grew up in Jamaica, Queens; which is in NYC but is not Harlem. I traveled often to Upper Manhattan (Harlem) by subway. Back then one could travel all over the city for 15 cents.

Syrup or ketchup? Did you really grow up in Harlem?
