Patricia Bright Wooten
She was born Patricia June Bright in Camberwell, England, on May 18, 1928, the second of three daughters of William O. J. Bright and Lucy Maud Bright. They lived in Burnt Oak before moving to Wembley in the mid-1930s. As a 12-year-old, 'Pat' Bright, as she was known, witnessed and survived the 1940 'Blitz', during which time nightly raids by German bombers strafed areas of London with incendiary bombs, many of which fell on houses in their Wembley neighborhood. Her father built a small air raid shelter in the back garden of their home in which the three Bright girls - Joan, Pat and Barbara - slept many nights during the war.

While working in the war information office, Pat Bright's older sister Joan met and married US Army Colonel Walter Watson Aycock who brought her back to America after the war. In 1949, Pat visited the her sister and brother-in-law, who was also a lawyer in Atlanta, Georgia where they made their home. With Walter Aycock's help, she obtained a permit to work in the US and later met Robert David Wooten, an engineering student at Georgia Tech. They were married on March 22, 1951. Two children followed - David William Wooten on July 2, 1952 and Stephen Lawrence Wooten on November 8, 1956.

In early 1955, the family moved from Atlanta to the Maryland suburbs of Washington, living in Hyattsville (1955-1956), Chevy Chase (1956-1961) and Rockville in 1961. Stephen Wooten's marriage to Dorian Wood Janney produced Pat Wooten's three grandsons - Justin David (1981), William Christopher (1986) and Britton Oliver (1990). Her only granddaughter, Laura Bright Wooten was born (1992) to David Wooten and Cynthia Ann Wooten (nee Clark) following their 1991 marriage.

Diagnosed with cancer in July, 2009, Patricia Bright Wooten passed away on solstice day, December 21, 2009 leaving her husband, two children, four grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews in England and the US.
