Tibetan Buddhist monastery found near Boudhanath on the outskirts of Kathmandu. It is the origin of the FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition). The monastery was established by the founders of FPMT, Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Kopan is especially famous for the teachings of Buddhism to Western visitors. A beautiful place situated on a hill with beautiful gardens, stupas and temples.
