The next weekend, I rejoined Creasy Family Motorsports in Salt Lake City, Utah. I came home from Bowling Green for 1 day, then joined with Mitch King's Nitro Circus and helped drive the second car and trailer to Utah from Dallas with another crew member, Martin Blake, the man who taught me how to service the bottom end of a Top Fuel car. Good times, cruising through the Rocky Mountains towing a Top Fuel car down a steep grade. We stopped twice, I think, and made it Thursday morning.
This would be the second Thursday afternoon I spent sniffin' on nitro fumes, as Ron August made passes attempting to earn his Top Fuel license in the Strasburg Racing dragster. This was an IHRA exhibition event, the fun races to go to! I was front and center as August made his first Top Fuel burnout. Fast forward a few weeks, and after completing his Top Fuel license passes in Mitch King's dragster, I'm doing bottom end on Ron August's Top Fuel car at Indy.....which will tie in later! Funny how that license stuff works huh?
