A Barred Owl was actively hunting from early morning and was still looking for prey late into the day. At one point it made several barking sounds and then flew into the woods seemingly to roost. A minute later it was back out again looking very much alert. Often it seemed to hear prey below and a number of times looked ready to pounce even lifting its leg...then just as quickly settled back down onto its perch again.
