There are very few plants living in alpine desert zone (4000-5000 m), actually only 55 hardiest ones can survive in those severe conditions.
The most common are pale green and rust red lichens that do nt need soil, but simply encrust the lava.
Also some hard grasses with narrow leaves and strawflowers exist in this highland desert.
