22 - "One of The Few"

...things I LOVE about Monroe, Louisiana...

Joseph A. Biedenharn first bottled the popular fountain beverage known as Coca-Cola in 1894 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He and his family, including his wife Anne, his three sons, and his daughter Emy Lou, moved to Monroe in 1913. Their beautiful home was built in 1914. Enterinng the home through the Fountain Gallery, visitors first see the magnificent fountain, high windows on three sides and a statue of cherub musicians made of marble and standing on a marble pillar.
The living, music, dining, breakfast, library and garden rooms feature antiques and other rare furnishings. Emy-Lou's bedroom and the master bedroom display crystal chandeliers, high testered beds and many artistic accessories. Visitors are especially interested in Mr. Joe's room, which depicts his interest, including Coca-Cola and in Emy-Lou's room, which showcases her international singing career.

How cool and love the image. Like the history behind it as well. Nothing like a real coke with pure cane sugar. I can get my hands on some every now and then, just like real Dr. Pepper. Dublin, TX is where that is made and it beats the stuff they sell at the stores!

Did you find the recipe for coke there?

Ooh - nothing better than a real coke in a glass bottle! :-)
