Moments before swallowing the fish the Heron opens its bill and repositions its prey from the tip of the bill to its mouth.
I have photographed this move before but this time I got the fish facing the mouth opening resulting in a much more interesting composition. Ed Levin Co. Park, Santa Clara Co., CA.
