The image also shows a sense of safety - cool hat!
As an aside, the best coal I have found for my steam engine comes from WV!

Great shot and great hat. It symbolizes the work and pride that helped make this nation great. It is sad, that due to consideration for nothing but the profit margin, that so much attention has been directed toward mountaintop removal. Running heavy equipment is hard, honest labor. But being an equipment operator does not a miner make. Coal provides 50% of this nations electricity. It provides over 99% of the power used in the state of West Virginia. To think that we can convert to solar and wind power to meet our needs overnight is Quixotic at best, and foolishly dangerous at worse. It must be done, but it will take time with a great deal of caution and measured approach. The survival of future generations is at stake. For the time being, salute our coal miners. They really do help keep the lights on.

Reminds me of the song "Coal Miner's Daughter". I like it!

Excellent hat Karen. It symbolizes old school, that's good. And if that's a union cap even better. I like the strong hand too. Great pic.

The kind of pride that built a nation.
