These two kites perched near each other and both engaged in repeated tail-bobbing, apparently in response to approach by a third kite, north of Laguna Avenue. Birds of North America Online reports this behavior as a response to intrusion, and this may be a pair defending territory even outside of the breeding season, which runs roughly from December to September. These two are shown with the third kite at http://www.pbase.com/image/119203416 .
