It can be seen on the rainforest slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and is the endemic species of this mountain.
It's very small, less than 0.5 inches in length; the orchid-like hood is a vibrant scarlet, with a curved, yellow tail.
Those enchanting flowers can be found nowhere else in the world. They grow along the trail making a striking contrast to deep green plants dominating the landscape of this mountain zone.
Impatiens are also called "touch me nots," since the mature seed pods explode when touched sending seeds meters away.
