I had a slightly different concept that I have tastefully decided not to follow up on (at least for now). My kids are actually going through all the trouble of sorting out the pumpkin guts. Each year they separate the pumpkin seeds out. They then take the time to clean the seeds and bake them, adding salt and other spices as necessary. That is about as far as they get until they realize that they don't like the taste of pumpkin seeds.
