Stooks

Common until the early 1950s, this scene has vanished from the prairies, except for historical re-creations.
Stooks were assembled manually from sheaves of grain that were cut and tied into bundles, or sheaves, by a binder.
The purpose of stooking was to allow the grain to dry before taking it the final stage, the threshing machine.

Cool shot of a fast-vanishing art, Earl.
