Meet Brigitte, the Golden Rabbit

Home

Neighbors moved away in June and left this poor little rabbit to fend for itself.. I fed it and let it run between the two houses in the gardens. 12 days ago Little Minou kept trying to get my attention to follow her and I finally did. She brought me to my back garden where this rabbit was spinning like crazy. I thought it had a broken neck so rushed it to the vet.
Four days later I was called to come pick up the rabbit who the vet has assured me is a girl and I named her Brigitte. The rabbit is suffering from an inner ear infection and fluid in the ear and had severe vertigo which made its entire world constantly spin. At first her head was over to the right dragging on the floor and I wondered if she would ever get better.
She has 4 medications to take twice a day and my daughter, Katherine who should have been a vet, administers the medicines. Brigitte's head is almost straight again and I am hoping that by the end of the medicine doses she will be totally right.
My vet bill when I picked her up was quite extravagant and that is why I call her the golden rabbit. She has such pretty, dainty feet.
For sure she will no longer hop through the neighborhood but will live in my house.

You are one special lady, Coleen. I must admit I laughed at Scott's post....but I know he was kidding....wasn't he? Good for you.

Poor little Bridget! Minou was truely a good friend with the best Mommy in LA to take such good care of a orphan pet. Coleen, you are the greatest!!!

There's somehow something rather crass about the idea of a vet demanding a deposit when faced with a sick animal. I cannot imagine my vet doing that. Bridget was lucky to find you.

You and my wife would get along famously, Coleen. She just got back from the vet and told me that her cat needed to have her teeth cleaned for $400. Oh my aching back!

Some people shoot things; others care for them. I prefer the latter group!

You are very good hearted to pay nearly $700 bucks for a Penta eater! *smile*

Welcome to the world of rabbit ownership! They are so sweet, but very expensive to keep when they become ill since the vets that can really take care of them are exotic vets. We've had 4, and our most recent had to have full dental surgery, and you don't want to see the bill!

Glad to see Bridgit is in good hands and feeling better.

Those 4 feet sure brought her luck, she is such a pretty girl besides being very lucky.

You have a good heart Coleen. I'd have done the same thing. She's also very pretty too! Can't believe someone would just abandon her like that!

Can I borrow this rabbit? I'd like to lure some hawks in to photograph them. A spinning rabbit would certainly bring them in! I won't let them catch her. honest. : -)

my favorite people are animal lovers... I would have done the same!
