Day 65

South East Washington

Oct 10, Sat - day 65
Cheney, Washington
Weather-low -17(-9C) to high 45 (8C) frost, clear and cold and not too windy

We’re moving on to our next stop tomorrow and today was our last day of photography in the Palouse and Scab Lands of South East Washington.

We planned a short drive (four hours), as always our hopes were up to see something exciting. Our expectations were met. We had great opportunities to photograph pheasants by the score, deer by the dozens, and one nervous coyote. We took lots of shots with good lighting and no dust storms. Feeling relaxed, but a little sad that we had to say goodbye to such a beautiful area, we returned to Gus to start preparing for the trip to the coast tomorrow.

Because it was so cold last night, the coldest we have ever encountered while in Gus, I disconnected the water and sewer before dark, hoping that we would not freeze up during the night. The tow dolly was still hooked up to Gus, so I loaded the Red Rocket, tied down all the straps, etc. and about all that’s left to do is to disconnect the power in the morning and gather up anything inside Gus that isn’t tied down. Oh…and we’ll leave the furnace on tonight so that we can survive the 17F temperature predicted for tonight. The adventure continues….
