Nice looking figs... never really seen them fresh before! Alistair

The shapes and textures are very interesting and the colours are quite lovely. I saw some unripe figs at a winery yesterday - intriguing fruit!

I did think of trying to make a living as a potter Shirley, but marketing yourself takes most of the time. I don't have the gear at home. Yes, it was a warm coloured stoneware-fired clay with lots of grog (crank clay) giving a coarse finish. The outside was left bare with red iron oxide brushed on. I may try to get a shot of it for the comp : )

Oh Bruce, if you do and you need a person to tempt with your work, look no further than me! I love pottery. One of my prized possessions is a bowl from a potter on the Isle of Sky, Scotland. This one in the photo looks very nice and rustic, was it local clay?

Thanks both. They are lovely to eat as well as a wonderful colour. I love the bloom on them like plums, but it rubs off easily. I threw the bowl years ago - I must get back to it one day...

I guess I'm not very worldly, but you folks are helping solve that with your photos. I'd never seen figs before they become Fig Newtons or filling in yummy home made cookies. They're very lovely in your photo. I like the bowl very much too. So, figs are purple!
