The conifer plantations at the upper edge of Waikamoi Preserve feel somewhat like the being in Northern Minnesota. There is little below the conifers other than duff, moss, a few ferns and some twiggy 'ohelo (like blueberry) bushes. There was also frost on the ground some mornings.
