Finally after a summer of frustration a cool day with a cold front blowing in from Canada swept away the smog and haze...giving a clear view of the Vermont and New Hampshire mountains 50-60 miles away. And of equal importance, allowing me to take a better panarama of the view than in my earlier trial shot.
This view covers about 180 degrees, from Easthampton on the left through Northampton in the center to Hadley/Amherst and the UMass - Amherst campus on the right side. In geographical terms, the view goes from southwest (left) to northeast (right). The mountains in the left half of the picture are the beginnings of the Berkshires...to the right side, foothills leading to the lower Green Mountains of Vermont and the southernmost White Mountains of New Hampshire.
