In the '80s, Deni was taken with the idea of hooking ornamental rugs for wall hangings, and made quite a few of them. This is the largest and most striking of her rugs.
She would find an appealing design, and I would use a transparency projector at work to project and draw it onto the backing material at the desired size. Then we would pick out the yarn colors and Deni would spend many evening hours hooking it.
The flower arrangement is a spray of a native flame azalea (Rhododendron calendulaceum).
