I improved the prior method a bit here. Instead of bungies, I carbined the tarp directly to the kayak, this mean't it covered the roof of the van a bit. I also allowed two of the sides points to drop toward the ground to allow water to drain better. I needed to park closer to the picnic table so I could put the paddle outside of the table.
