With the wire pointing directly at my body, and holding the eye loop with the pliers, the secret of breaking wire is to "lift it" through an arc of about 210 degrees, directly opposite the way it was wrapped. Once the wire is "reverse bent" a bit past 210 degrees, it just snaps at the joint. Almost like magic!
