The beaches here are nesting places for Leather back and Logger Head turtles. They swim up at night to dig hole where they lay their eggs. If you are lucky, you might visit when one of the nests hatches. In this picture, a day of rather large waves has eroded into the beach berm and is exposing these Leather back eggs. A few had already washed out to sea when I snap this image. Todd, one of the beach concession bosses grabs a shovel and he quickly digs a new hole where we salvage these eggs and put them back in their "sand incubator." A volunteer group keeps an eye on the beach and the turtle eggs. Many of these eggs should hatch on schedule.
