Chinese cucumbers

San Francisco, Richmond District

"Luffa acutangula", sze gwa, is known by several common names: silk squash, Chinese okra, angles luffa or
Chinese cucumber. It tastes like a cross between a cucumber and a zucchini. Some stir-fry it or
deep fry it, but others like it in soup. I haven't tried cooking it yet, but like its shape and color a lot.

Lovely shapes and texture. I think I would like these stir fried or deep fried. However, maybe in a cream soup.......

San Francisco is the place to find such markets with exotic ingredients. Here in Germany i had to travel Frankfurt to find a market for this, Great light and colors here!
