Weather - still hot and a little muggier



We tried to cut back today, so broke the day up into two photo jaunts instead of one long one. In the morning Carla took us to some places we hadn’t been, and in the evening we drove out around a local lake and checked out some nearby roads.



The morning turned out to be turkey morning. The trick seemed to be not to plan to find turkeys, but to wait and see if it happened and it did. We discovered last year that turkeys like to stay in the shadows and it still applied, however we were able to get some shots even though we had to dodge some traffic to get them.



We also saw more Acorn Woodpeckers (not in a large group this time), some deer browsing in the trees, and an abundance of ground squirrels…tough to shoot them though; they were always dodging into their tunnels.



We stopped for lunch at a nice park just south of Gold River right along side the Rogue River. There were some fully loaded oak trees…lots of nuts, but no squirrels just the three of us. After a few mandatory shots of acorns, had to keep things in the ‘nutty’ family, we headed off through new territory. Lots of farms, old barns, a hawk or two and finally back to the freeway and home.



Once we got back Carla and Rae headed over to Carla’s to do some work on her computer and I stayed home for restful afternoon of visiting and working with my photos. After dinner we drove out around a local lake, saw deer, egret and an apparently very hungry Belted Kingfisher that was determinedly diving for his dinner.



Another day, everyone was tired, tomorrow we plan to take some rest time :o) The adventure continues…
