This is what happens when you set out on a ride home and mistake the route. I did a real quick scan of maps.google.com and it looked like I was going to take Route 4 to Route 107 and then pick up Route 126 back into Rochester. Turns out, 126 doesn't intersect 107. If you stay on 107 long enough, you wind up pretty far out of the way. I did have the GPS (but not the route) so I took a bunch of side roads from Gilmington to find my way to 140 which takes you into Alton. I was completely distracted by the Alton Town hall due to this pretty cool scene.
I am supporting the camera on a winter Buff, a beanbag, and my helmet bag. I can't believe this didn't come out blurrier.
Though I shot this at ISO 100 on my 40D, with the announcement today by Canon of the new 7D, you have to wonder what this would have looked like at ISO 6400 or even 12800. OK, you don't actually have to wonder, but I do. This is a tricky shot with the 17-55, I had to clone out a ton of lens flare in the upper left hand corner.
