Indian Pipe

Spruce Bog Boardwalk, Algonquin

Also known as "Corpse Plant", Indian Pipe grows in shady woods with rich soil and decaying plant matter. It does not have any chlorophyll; this, and the plant's waxy, whitish color lead most people to think it's a species of fungus.
