The tower of the castle was built originally in 1170.
The castle was added a century later as walled residence for the bishops of Lausanne.
The castle had many misadventures through the centuries
and it was pulled down, except the tower, which was always preserved.
In 1889 it was rebuilt completely in style neo-gothic to be transformed in hotel.
This photo is not here alone by chance,
it's supposed to be part of a virtual visit of Lausanne.
If you have time
to keep on strolling over.
