When we hiked this with full packs several years ago, I failed to point out to Marina that we weren't completely, totally done with the climbing when we hit the trail intersection. We actually had about another 100 feet to go, as we found out, and that brought out the tears. They were well justifed at the time because we had already hiked 5.5 miles and climbed 1500 feet with the packs and it was getting late. Even a little more climbing than anticipated was just one step beyond the Pale. This part of the hike has since become known as the "No Cry Zone".
