Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Colorado

Rocky Mountain National Park has the highest paved roads in any National Park in the United States. Trail Ridge Road crests at 12,183 feet (3713 meters). The gravel road on the right side of the image is the Old Fall River Road. It's a steep, one-way unpaved road. It is not suitable for RVs or low-clearance vehicles, but provides spectacular views for suitable passenger cars, trucks, or SUVs. The first time I drove it was in a 1976 Ford van with a 3-speed (on the column) manual shift. That made for some exciting hair-pin turns.

Very cool that you flew over it and were able to get the shot! I've been there a couple of times too.

I have been on both those roads. RMNP is one of my favorite places

Well done to recognize and then catch it out the window while flying by. A bit above timber line.

That does look like a scary road, Jack. I think I saw some pictures taken by someone traveling that road and it looked pretty tough. Great shot by the way

Great shot, and that looks a respectable hairpin bend too.
