Ground was broken for the new building July 15, 1964; the cornerstone was laid July 4, 1965, by the then Ambassador John M. Steeves; dedication July 4, 1967 was by the present Ambassador, Robert G. Neumann. I attended the dedication as an American foreign service dependant age 14. I lived in Kabul 1966-71 and attended the American International School of Kabul (AISK).
