Land Reclamation (temporary)

Jersey, Channel Islands

OK, so after a madly busy spell at work, I decide to make a bigger effort to get an image into the challenges more regularly. And what happens, "Landscapes". Living on an Island 5x7 miles (and working on a neighbouring island only a touch bigger) land is one thing we don't have a lot of.

So I resign myself to maybe not getting anything in this challenge, unless we get over to France at the weekend. Then I pass this scene. This is a particularly low tide that reveals a 'road' up to the Castle, built on the normally hidden land between the castle and shore. I think to myself, could this be considered a 'Landscape'? Perhaps, or perhaps not.

If the host wants to reclaim it for Pending, or you judge it off topic, I'm fine with that, but at least I was able to attempt to get something into eligible!

I like how the guy with his family was attempting a self portrait incorporating a slightly smaller castle at the moment this was taken. I also like how the driver of the amphibian bus seems to have steered around the sandcastle as he takes tourists to and from the real one.

Now doubt, for me this is a landscape, an I like how the landscape is brought to life by the people. -Gerald

Thanks all for the comments, and to Troy for allowing it to stand :-)

Bob, it does indeed carry historical significance. Elizabeth castle is directly linked with many historical events, including one that led to a well known North American territory several thousand miles away from here being named NEW Jersey.

This is really good and your comments provides context and adds to the interest.

One can imagine the great historical significance of this feature and the fascinating stories it tells.

Wonderful! The human element really "makes" this landscape. Good work, Najinsky! ~Sharon

Well, I'm not the host, but this certainly looks like a landscape to me...and a very interesting shot as well. Well seen, Najinsky.
