Entrance to J & L

Aliquippa, Pennsylvania

The sign says, "In a landmark ruling on April 12, 1932, the U. S. Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the National Labor Relations Act in the case of National Labor Relations Board vs. Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. The company had fired unionized workers at its Aliquippa plant here, but the Court ordered their reinstatement and established workers’ rights to organize and bargain collectively." J & L is now gone, but the impact of that decision was pivotal in the growth of labor unions. I don't know how many times I passed by, but I never read the sign until the day I took this picture.
