Thank you Brenda for the ID and your comments. It did require lying on my belly to be able to capture the shot. -- Bob K.

This is a long-jawed orb weaver (tetragnatha species) which are widespread across N.A. I sometimes see them on the reeds beside my pond where they make slanted webs, instead of straight up and down, in which damselflies are the main victims. Yep, they're not very big - you did a wonderful job of capturing this one with such clarity and detail. I've seen other shots of these critters on various websites but none can touch yours. Bravo for your keen eye and steady hand.

Thanks Colin,
To put things in perspective, the stem of grass that the spider is trying to hide on is approximately 1.5 mm in diameter. I am not sure but believe it to be just a common garden spider of which there are lots of them around here. -- Bob K.

What is that thing! Looks like some sort of undersea creature...
Great find and very well shot too.
