Blue Tail Skink 2009

Tiny, Fast, & Colorful

You can see how small this little lizard is by comparing him to the nail head in the lower right hand corner of the image. Never coming out of the deep shade, he stayed but a moment before scampering back underneath the fence. Yes, his tail really was a neon blue!!!

Great shot! We have blue tailed skinks in our neck of the woods too. Not sure if they are the same as yours though. If you grab them by the tail, the tail can break off. It is a natural survival mechanism evolved to escape predation.
