TO KEITH O'BRIEN. YES, THEY WERE, FOR MANY CENTURIES! MY GRANDMOTHER, ELENORA VERE STARKEY (1884 - 1968) AND MY GREAT AUNT, FLORENCE VERE STARKEY, WERE SISTERS OF MY GREAT UNCLE, KENNETH VERE STARKEY, WHO WAS THE LAST OF THE MALE LINE HEIR DESCENDANTS TO THE WRENBURY HALL ESTATE. HE SOLD WRENBURY HALL IN 1920 TO CHESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL. THE HALL IS, FORTUNATELY, NOW IN PRIVATE HANDS AGAIN AND WELL CARED FOR. I SAW WRENBURY HALL ON THE DAY OF THE FUNERAL OF MY GREAT AUNT FLORENCE (OF WHOM I HAVE VERY FOND MEMORIES). INCIDENTALLY, MY GRANDMOTHER MARRIED THE VICAR OF WRENBURY CHURCH, THE REV. SIDNEY MARSTON; THEY EMIGRATED TO SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, AS MY GRANDFATHER WAS PRIVATE CHAPLAIN TO EARL LORD BEACHAMP, 1ST VISCOUNT ELMLY (MY FATHER'S GODFATHER) WHO WAS GOVERNOR FOR NEW SOUTH WALES. KENNETH STARKEY HAD NO ISSUE, SO, HAD HE NOT SOLD IT IN 1920 IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INHERITED BY MY FATHER!

Must have been quite an important family to warrant a brass plaque - interesting capture!

1666 ... evokes "Great Fire of London" from my history memory ... interesting spelling and use of capitals!
