The top flap folds back to expose the zippered center compartment. There is a separate handle under the flap (shown here sticking up) that can be combined with the other hand strap (shown in front of the bag) so that the bag can be lifted and carried with the top flap folded back as well as closed using the main handle on the outside. This is very convenient when you don't want to fasten all the closures. Two bellows pockets are under the leather snap tabs.
