Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus)---- with cheeks full of seeds.
Named "buddy", the last two years I lived in NH this little Chipmunk,
was amongst up to fifteen that scavenged daily under the bird feeders in the backyard, but would be the only one to come scurrying
out to the front when it was called. Sometimes it would even be waiting on the stairs for me to arrive home from work. It would eat
from my hand until I stopped or it felt it was to dark, and there was never a problem petting it while it ate. The stash of nuts
it accumulated must have been enormous as it was always scurrying back to its den with dry leaves to line a new storage area.
Seen here with its cheeks completely stuffed and ready to head for its den, "buddy"
almost seemed to be understanding my request as it was asked to pose for this picture.
