Glen Lochay

Glen Lochay, Breadalbane

An old Birch tree.
Birch & Oak are the predominant trees in this riparian woodland. Birch is normally a short-lived tree but here the birches grow into old gnarled trees with lots of holes, nooks, crannies & dead wood. Insect life is abundant as are nesting sites for woodland birds. This beautiful glen echoes to the song of Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Wood Warbler & Garden Warbler in Spring whilst Cuckoos call from the wooded slopes above.
