This delicate pelagic gull is in big trouble as populations are crashing across its North Atlantic breeding grounds. It is a surface-feeder which avoids inshore waters except when breeding. It feeds mainly on Sandeels, Krill & other large Zooplankton. Warming seas (affects the extent & nature of the Spring plankton bloom)& overfishing are the main reasons for its decline.
